Compress Images to a Target Size in KB

Updated 27 October 2026 · 2 min read · By the LabelCroppers team

Government forms, job portals and some seller panels accept only small images – 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB. Compress image lowers quality step by step, then size if needed, until each file fits your limit.

How it keeps quality

The tool first tries higher quality settings and only reduces dimensions when quality alone cannot reach the target, so photos stay as clear as possible.

Why file size matters

Upload portals reject files that are too large, and smaller images load faster on your website and in WhatsApp catalogs. Marketplaces usually accept larger images, so for listings it is better to keep quality high and only resize dimensions.

Getting the smallest file

  • Use JPG or WEBP; WEBP is usually smaller at the same quality.
  • Reduce dimensions if the target is very small – a 1000 px image compresses far better than a 4000 px one.
  • Remove the background to white first; plain backgrounds compress well.

How to use the Compress image, step by step

  1. Open Compress image and drop images.
  2. Tick Keep each file under a size and enter the KB.
  3. Choose JPG or WEBP.
  4. Download.

Tips

  • PNG cannot be compressed as much as JPG; convert to JPG for very small targets.
