Myntra Business Models Explained: PPMP, JIT and M-Direct

Updated 27 October 2026 · 3 min read · By the LabelCroppers team

Myntra offers more than one way to work with brands. The model decides who holds inventory, who packs and ships, how returns flow and how much working capital you need. Integration partners commonly describe the following models.

PPMP

You keep inventory in your own warehouse. Myntra passes individual customer orders to you; you pack and ship using the shipping label and courier Myntra provides, and Myntra generates the invoice in your name. Returns come back to your warehouse. Good for brands that want control of stock and can pack daily.

JIT (purchase order model)

Myntra issues bulk purchase orders for multiple items. You deliver the stock to Myntra's hub, and Myntra handles order-level sorting and delivery to customers. Good for brands that prefer bulk dispatches and predictable volumes.

M-Direct

Myntra sends item-level orders through its order management system; you pick, pack and print labels and invoices, and Myntra's logistics collects from you. Returns come back via Myntra's hub.

How to choose

  • Control and flexibility: PPMP or M-Direct.
  • Bulk, predictable supply: JIT.
  • Working capital: holding stock yourself means you manage inventory risk directly.
  • Team capacity: order-level models need a daily packing team.

Myntra's team will tell you which models are available for your brand and category.

Operations tips for order-level models

Print labels in batches, pick by SKU, and verify size and colour against the label before sealing. The Myntra label crop converts label PDFs to clean 4×6 thermal labels.

Working capital and risk

In order-level models you hold the inventory and the risk of unsold stock, but you are paid only for what customers buy and keep. In purchase-order models you are paid for what Myntra orders, but must meet PO quantities, quality checks and delivery timelines. Your capital, production capacity and appetite for inventory risk should drive the choice.

Returns flow in practice

In order-level models returns come back to your warehouse, where you inspect, restock or claim. Set up an inspection station and track return reasons by style so you can act on them.

Integration and software

Many brands connect Myntra to an order or inventory management system to sync stock and orders across channels. Even if you start manually, keep SKU codes consistent so integration is easy later.

Questions to ask your Myntra contact

  • Which models are available for my category and brand?
  • What are the dispatch timelines and service levels?
  • How are returns handled and settled in this model?
  • What labels, invoices and packaging standards apply?
  • How are payments calculated and when are they made?

Clear answers up front prevent surprises later.

Operational requirements compared

Order-level models need daily processing capacity: someone to accept orders, print labels and invoices, pick, check and pack. The workload rises sharply during events. Purchase-order models need production planning, bulk packing to Myntra's inbound standards, appointment booking and the ability to meet delivery dates. Neither is "easier" – they demand different strengths. Be honest about which your team has today, and which you are willing to build.

Whichever model you choose, consistent SKU codes, accurate size labels and a clean master data sheet will save time every day and make future integrations painless.
