Add watermark
Add a Watermark to a PDF Online (Free, Private)
Watermarks discourage misuse of documents you share – price lists, catalogues, quotations and drafts.
A clear but light watermark protects without hiding content.
How to watermark
- Open the Watermark PDF tool.
- Drop the PDF in.
- Type the watermark text.
- Set size, opacity, colour and angle (45°, 0°, −45° or 90°).
- Choose Center or Tiled and download.
Center vs tiled
- Center – one large mark in the middle of each page.
- Tiled – repeated across the page, harder to crop out.
Examples
- Quotation: “VALID TILL 31 MAR”, 45°, centre, 20%.
- Catalogue: brand name, tiled, 12%, grey.
- Draft contract: “DRAFT”, 45°, centre, red, 25%.
Watermark before sharing on WhatsApp
Price lists and catalogues are forwarded widely. A tiled brand watermark keeps your name on every page even when it is forwarded or screenshotted, which discourages competitors from passing your catalogue off as their own.
Make it hard to remove
A single centred watermark can be cropped or covered. Tiled layout repeats the text across the page, so removing it would damage the content. Combine tiled layout with a low opacity so the document stays easy to read.
Keep the original
Always keep an unwatermarked original for your own records and final versions. The tool downloads a new watermarked file and never changes the PDF on your device.
Good settings
Opacity around 15–25% keeps text readable. Grey or your brand colour looks professional.
