Compress image
Compress Image to 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB
Exam forms, job portals and government websites often demand photos and signatures under a fixed size such as 20 KB or 50 KB. Guessing quality settings in an editor takes many tries.
A target-size compressor does the guessing for you.
How to compress to a size
- Open the Compress image tool.
- Drop the image(s).
- Enter the maximum size in KB (for example 50).
- Choose JPG or WEBP.
- Download – each file is under your limit.
How it works
The tool lowers quality first, then dimensions, only as much as needed to fit the size, so the picture stays as sharp as possible.
If the form also needs exact pixels
Use the image resizer: enter the width and height the form asks for, tick Keep each file under a size and enter the KB limit. Both rules are applied in one step.
Signature and photo tips
- Crop tightly so no space is wasted.
- Use good light – noise from dark photos needs more KB.
- Prefer JPG for photos; WEBP only if the form accepts it.
Why a file will not go below a size
Very large or noisy photos hold a lot of detail. To reach tiny limits such as 10 KB, the tool also reduces pixel dimensions. If the result is too small for the form, crop the photo tighter first so the important part keeps more pixels.
Typical limits
- Signatures: 10–20 KB.
- Passport-style photos: 20–50 KB.
- Document scans: 100–300 KB.
