Shipping Label Crop to 4×6: The Complete Guide for Indian Sellers
Almost every Indian marketplace and courier uses the 4 × 6 inch shipping label, yet almost none of them give you a PDF sized for it. Cropping is the bridge between the PDF you download and the sticker you print.
This guide covers the whole process for any marketplace.
Why PDFs are not 4×6
Marketplaces design label PDFs to print on A4 office printers, often with invoices on the same page. Thermal printers need a page exactly the size of the sticker.
The cropping process
- Find the label area on each page.
- Trim white space.
- Rotate if needed.
- Place it on a 4×6 page with a small margin.
- Skip empty slots.
Settings that matter
In the Auto-detect label crop tool the defaults – 4×6, 2 mm margin, smart trim, skip blanks and auto-rotate – suit most sellers. Turn on the page footer for numbering.
Which tool to use
- One marketplace: use its own label crop tool for the best defaults.
- Several marketplaces: use the Auto-detect tool.
- Any other courier PDF: use Crop PDF with a custom box.
Common mistakes
- Printing with Fit to page, which shrinks the label.
- Leaving the printer paper size on A4.
- Using non-thermal sticker rolls in a thermal printer.
After printing
Stick the label flat on the largest face of the parcel, away from seams and tape edges. Do not cover the barcode with shiny tape, and remove old labels from reused boxes so the courier scans the right one.
Printing
Set the printer to 4×6, scale 100%, margins none, and calibrate after loading rolls.
