How to Reduce Returns on AJIO
Returns cut into profit and can affect performance. Most AJIO returns come from fit, colour, quality or packing errors – all fixable.
Analyse returns
Group by style, size and reason. Fix the biggest causes first.
Fit and colour
Accurate size charts, fit notes and colour-true images.
Quality and packing
QC every piece and verify the SKU on the label before sealing – SKU-stamped labels make this quick.
Packaging
Neat folding, clean polybags, tags attached.
Return analysis routine
Every week, list returns by style and reason. Look for patterns: a size that runs small, a colour that photographs differently, a fabric that pills. Fix the cause in the listing, size chart or production.
Category-specific tips
- Shirts: collar and chest measurements, slim vs regular fit.
- Dresses: length relative to model height.
- Footwear: foot length and width.
- Kidswear: age plus height.
Inspecting returned items
Inspect returns on camera, restock good units and pursue claims for wrong or damaged returns according to your agreement and AJIO's process.
The cost of a return
A fashion return costs more than the lost sale: forward and reverse logistics, packaging, handling time, and sometimes a product that cannot be resold. If a style sells 100 units and 30 come back, its real margin may be a fraction of what the price suggests. Calculate return cost per style and use it to decide which styles to fix, promote or drop.
Fit feedback loop with production
Share return reasons with whoever makes your products. If "too tight at chest" keeps appearing for one style, check the pattern and grading; if "colour different" appears, compare dye lots against the approved sample. Brands that close this loop see return rates fall season after season, while brands that only fix listings keep fighting the same problems.
Packaging for fashion
Fold garments neatly with tissue for delicate fabrics, use clean branded polybags, attach tags securely and include a care card. A product that arrives looking new reduces impulse returns and earns better ratings.
Tracking the effect of fixes
After updating a size chart or images, compare that style's return rate over the next month with the previous month. Keep the changes that work and apply them to similar styles.
