Kids Size Charts by Age: A Guide for FirstCry Sellers

Updated 27 October 2026 · 3 min read · By the LabelCroppers team

Wrong size is the top reason kidswear is returned. Clear age-based size charts with measurements reduce returns and earn better reviews.

Structure of a good kids' size chart

  • Age range (e.g. 2–3 years).
  • Child's height range.
  • Garment chest, length and waist.
  • Fit note (regular, relaxed, slim).

Growing room

Parents often buy a little bigger. Say whether a style has room to grow or fits true to age.

Consistency

Keep sizing consistent across styles. If a style runs small or large, mention it on that product.

Tools

Our sticker maker prints age and size stickers; maintain a master size chart per category.

Example chart layout

  • 2–3 Years | Height 92–98 cm | Chest 54 cm | Length 45 cm
  • 3–4 Years | Height 98–104 cm | Chest 56 cm | Length 48 cm
  • 4–5 Years | Height 104–110 cm | Chest 58 cm | Length 51 cm

These numbers are illustrative only – measure your own garments and publish your real measurements.

Measuring baby clothes

For babies, include length from shoulder to hem and for rompers the torso length. Mention snap or zip openings and whether the fit allows room for nappies.

Communicating to parents

Add a short line such as "If your child is between sizes, choose the bigger size" and keep it consistent across your catalog.

Why age alone is not enough

Two four-year-olds can differ in height by more than ten centimetres. A chart that only says "4–5 Years" leaves parents guessing, which leads to returns. Adding height and key garment measurements lets parents choose by their child's actual size, and many will also measure a garment they already own and compare.

Size stickers in the warehouse

Use the same age labels on physical size stickers as on the listing so pickers never confuse sizes. The SKU and MRP sticker maker prints age, SKU and MRP stickers in bulk on thermal rolls or A4 sheets.

Updating charts with feedback

When reviews or returns mention fit, re-measure the garments and update the chart or add a fit note. Keep a change log so you know which production batches match which chart.
