What Is an FNSKU on Amazon and Why Your Units Need One

Updated 27 October 2026 · 2 min read · By the LabelCroppers team

FNSKU stands for Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit. It is the identifier Amazon uses inside its warehouses to know that a specific unit belongs to you.

Understanding it prevents receiving problems and mixed-up inventory.

FNSKU vs ASIN vs SKU vs EAN

  • ASIN – Amazon’s product identifier, the same for every seller of that product.
  • SKU – your own internal code for the product.
  • EAN/UPC – the manufacturer barcode, often printed on packaging.
  • FNSKU – identifies your units of that product in Amazon’s fulfilment network.

When you need FNSKU labels

If your units are tracked as seller-specific inventory, each one needs an FNSKU label. Products that qualify for manufacturer-barcode tracking may not need them; check the setting for each listing in Seller Central.

Example

If you and another seller both sell the same branded item, the ASIN is shared but each seller has a different FNSKU. When stock is received, Amazon scans the FNSKU to know the units belong to you, so returns and sales are credited to the right seller.

Where FNSKU labels go

Stick one label on each unit, on a flat surface, covering any other barcode such as the EAN or UPC. The fulfilment centre should only be able to scan your FNSKU, otherwise units may be received incorrectly.

Printing them

Copy the FNSKU from Seller Central and print as many labels as you have units with the FBA FNSKU sticker generator. Thermal printers give the cleanest, most durable barcodes.
