Amazon Brand Registry and A+ Content in India: How to Get Them and Use Them Well
Brand Registry gives brand owners more control over their listings and unlocks marketing tools that unbranded sellers cannot use: A+ content, Sponsored Brands ads, Brand Stores, Brand Analytics and stronger protection against hijackers.
Eligibility
You need a trademark for your brand. According to Amazon India's own seller guidance, a registered trademark may make you eligible, and after filing a trademark application you receive an application number and may also be able to apply – acceptance is at Amazon's discretion and Amazon can ask for more information. The brand name on your products and packaging must match the trademark.
If you do not yet have a trademark, file one early through the official IP India portal or a trademark attorney – it takes time, and the application number alone can unlock several tools.
What you get
- A+ content – rich image and text modules on the product page.
- Sponsored Brands – headline and video ads featuring your logo and several products.
- Brand Store – a multi-page storefront on Amazon with its own URL.
- Brand Analytics – search term and market data.
- Protection tools – report violations, control listing content.
Building A+ content that converts
- Open with a lifestyle banner showing the product in use and your brand promise.
- Use a comparison chart to cross-sell your other products – this keeps shoppers in your brand.
- Show close-ups of fabric, stitching or material with one-line explanations.
- Add a size or fit module for fashion – it reduces returns.
- Keep text short; most shoppers read A+ on mobile.
Create one strong template and adapt it per product family instead of designing every page from scratch.
Brand Store basics
Organise the store like your catalog: best sellers, new arrivals, and one page per category. Link Sponsored Brands ads to store pages, and use the store URL in social media and influencer campaigns.
Protecting your listings
Watch for sellers joining your listings with different or fake products. Brand Registry lets you report them. Consistent branded packaging and product labels make it easier to prove your case.
A+ module ideas for Indian fashion and kids brands
- Brand story banner – who you are, where you make products, what makes you different.
- Fabric and comfort – macro shot of the fabric with "breathable cotton", "skin-friendly dyes".
- Size and fit – measurements image with a model height reference.
- How to style – the product paired three ways.
- Care – simple icons for wash and dry instructions.
- Comparison chart – four related products with key differences.
Writing A+ copy
Each module should carry one idea in a short headline and one or two lines of text. Use the words shoppers use, and mention practical details that prevent returns. Avoid claims you cannot prove (such as "best in India") and anything about competitors – A+ content is reviewed and can be rejected for such statements.
Measuring the impact
After publishing, compare conversion rate for the four weeks before and after. Brand-registered sellers can also test two A+ versions where Amazon's experiments tool is available. Keep the winner and test the next idea.
Trademark tips for Indian brands
Choose a distinctive brand name – common descriptive words are hard to register. File in the classes that match your products (for example class 25 for clothing). Keep copies of the application, examination report and any objections replied to; you may need them for Brand Registry and for reporting infringers.
